A Journey Worth Making

The internet has not been available for a few days so you are going to get a few posts in the next few hours!  We loaded up the van and left the hotel in Kampala just after 8:00 am with our driver Ali.  The day before we made bets as to the arrival time of our van & driver - being the ever optimist I said he would arrive early (7:58) and that was the case  - and here is the money shot!

We took the northern route via Fort Portal, not a route I had taken before.  I loved the beautiful scenery in this area.  I would recommend The Duchess restaurant in Fort Portal.  Reviews had indicated it was probably the best food in Uganda - they weren't stretching it.  It was excellent and very reasonable.  A nice respite before continuing on to Kasese and then Simba Safari Camp.

After a full day journey we hobbled into Simba with a flat tire.  We were climbing the final hill up to the entrance, literally 500 metres from the entrance and a tire blew.  Everyone quickly helped with removing luggage, getting our rooms organized, removing and replacing the tire.  Such an amazing group of people.

Simba is great and has excellent food, staff, service and basic but good rooms.  A good night sleep was had in this dark, very quiet location.
